Although the brand Alta Labs was founded in 2022, the individuals and parent company behind the brand have been established for over 20 years in their respective professional categories. If you’ve been following Alta Labs for a while, you’ve probably seen us mention our parent company SVT, our partner brands TruAudio and VSSL, and the known networking and manufacturing professionals that have built Alta Labs into the competitive force it is today. For this reason, we wanted to highlight why Alta Labs is not a “start-up”, and how it is backed by networking and manufacturing experience that rivals and outcompetes the competition. Although the name Alta Labs is the newest in the Networking space, the work behind the scenes shows it’s a well-established machine ready to break the mold of networking.
Alta Labs is a division of SVT (SoundVision Technologies). SVT has a proven track record of manufacturing innovation, developing leading brands in the audio/video, hi-fi, and smart home spaces. Brands such as TruAudio and VSSL are recognizable to those in the high-end AV and smart home space. TruAudio, for example, has been around for over 20 years - specializing in the manufacturing and creation of high-end speaker products targeted towards the CI (Custom Installation) space. TruAudio is a worldwide brand, with products known for their reliability, quality, and support team when a situation arises for assistance. TruAudio has a moniker: “Built By Installers, For Installers”. This slogan was adopted because the TruAudio team was started – and continues to be run – by those who have experience in the installation and implementation of speakers. Who better to build new and innovative speaker lines than those who know the challenges that installers face?
This perspective and implementation has traveled throughout the brands of SVT, and has found a home within the Alta Labs Family. Alta Labs is composed of networking professionals who are tried and tested in the field. Our tech support team is full of former installers of ISPs, MSPs, and other networking professionals. Our CEO, Chase, has experience as an MSP before joining the SVT family. We have many more examples of our team of engineers, our support, marketing, and sales team having decades of cumulative experience within the world of IT - specifically networking.
Chris Buechler joined the Alta Labs Team last year as the Principal Architect. Chris is an industry legend and Co-Founder of pfSense. Chris has been primarily focused on Alta Labs’ Route10 and Switching products. Widely known for his contributions in the networking and security industry, Chris was co-founder and project leader of pfSense. Chris led it from its inception to the most widely used open source firewall distribution in the world. He was also a significant contributor to the firewall distribution m0n0wall during its prime in the early 2000s. Chris is a published author and has spoken at dozens of conferences around the world on a variety of networking and computer security-related topics. These individuals have been through the refining fire of previous generations and iterations of technology within the space - bringing the good and learning from the bad.
Jeff Hansen, the CTO of Alta Labs, has been programming computers since he was six years old. As a kid he was a Nintendo World Champion. He began providing quality Internet access before graduating from high school, providing dial-up and web hosting services around the world, earning the Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award by the Governor of Utah in 1998. After college, he transitioned to Card Access, Inc. as a Senior Design Engineer, where he pushed the limits of performance and capabilities that Qualcomm WiFi radios are designed for. In 2016, Jeff joined Ubiquiti Networks as a Principal Firmware Engineer, a role he fulfilled until 2022. His multifaceted experience in many disciplines has allowed Alta Labs to rapidly build its high-performance, scalable cloud and connected devices from the ground up. Jeff, Chase and Chris are only some of the members of the Alta Labs Team that have made a lasting impact in the IT space prior to the creation of Alta Labs.
We view Alta Labs as the most optimized networking brand currently on the market. We have the fire of growth and the vision of a solution that can provide all the necessary functions an installer or user can hope for. With the launch of the new Route10, Alta Labs has created its first full ecosystem - showcasing the full scope of power and ability of Alta Labs. We’re excited to share our initial product offerings but keep in mind that these products are only the beginning.
